Our nursing home, Mount View Care Center, offers skilled nursing services at the main campus, with a licensed capacity of 265. Persons requiring either short term or long term skilled nursing care because of complex physical needs, psychiatric and neurological diseases, dementia or behavior problems are served. The employee performs the full scope of professional respiratory care functions within the parameters of professional licensure and standards of practice. The RT will be part of the interdisciplinary team which includes nursing, activities, dietary, pharmacy, medical services and social services. The RT will provide respiratory and cardiopulmonary monitoring, diagnostics and therapy services under medical direction to residents. Will provide education to residents and their families regarding respiratory disease and physiology. Will promote resident centered care that incorporates the resident’s preferences into the plan of care. Several Respiratory Therapist positions open in our new North Winds Vent unit; varying shifts, 6 am - 6 pm with an every third weekend requirement. Will be responsible for residents ranging in age from young adults to geriatrics and must be able to interpret age specific assessments. Will be responsible for assisting in the development of the plan of care along with the interdisciplinary team. Interpret, administer and monitor effectiveness of aerosolized medications ordered by a physician. Documents assessments, interventions and data within interdisciplinary notes. Transcribes verbal orders to physician orders sheet per policy. Processes new orders per policy. Rounds with IDT for each resident on a schedule to be determined. Reviews charts to ensure no contraindications or hazards exist for therapy ordered. Performs assessment of patient’s oxygenation, ventilation, breath sounds as determined by the plan of care and no less than facility policy. Monitors respiratory parameters as needed (ex. Tidal volume, respiratory rate, vital capacity, etc.). Checks ventilator for proper mechanical and alarm function. Sets up and adjusts variables as per physician orders or clinical judgement. Attendance to quarterly competencies and annual in-services. Measures output criteria and makes adjustments throughout the patient’s course. Promotes positive customer and team relations through effective communication, maintenance of confidentiality, and prompt response to patient, family, and staff concerns. Respectful of co-workers. Utilizes chain of command. Keeps Team Manager informed of unit issues, etc. Maintains a positive attitude and a willingness to accept change. Will be available for assisting with assessments/treatments in remainder of nursing home on an as needed basis. Assist with quality assurance monitoring and quality improvement initiatives. ~cb~ COMPENSATION: Competitive hourly wage.
